WELCOME TO OUR PARISH!
Sacred Heart Parish, part of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, has been an integral part of the fabric of life in the rural West Marin, California community for more than 150 years.
Besides offering spiritual guidance to generations of local Roman Catholics, Sacred Heart parish sponsors four youth basketball teams, hosts the popular St. Patrick's Day Barbecue fundraiser and the festive Our Lady of Guadalupe Feast Day.
The parish's two churches include Sacred Heart in Olema and St. Mary Magdalene Mission Church in Bolinas.
Sacred Heart Church is large and modern and primarily serves parishioners who live in Point Reyes, Inverness and points north and east as well as visiting vacationers to the area. The vibrant Spanish-speaking community celebrates Mass in Spanish on Saturday nights, quinceaneras with a Mass and party, and Our Lady of Guadalupe's Feast Day with a procession and mariachi band.
St. Mary Magdalene, a picturesque structure that survived the great earthquake of 1906, draws parishioners from the coastal areas of Bolinas and Stinson Beach. It's cemetery is still operational and is lovingly preserved and maintained by the church.
Visitors are welcome to take part in our Masses, pray in solitude to Our Lady of Guadalupe in the Grotto on the grounds of Sacred Heart, join us for coffee and donuts following the 8:30 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart, tour St. Mary Magdalene's simple country Cemetery and cheer on Sacred Heart's "Cagers" basketball team at West Marin School.
This is God's home and your church. We hope to see you soon!
